Introduction

Preca College an English speaking middle school. It was set up in Korça, Albania in September 1993 with the purpose of preparing Albanian students for Universities in Albania and abroad. In September 1996 it was accepted as a member school by the International Baccalaureate Organization but after the damages suffered in the uprisings of March 1997 it retired its membership but continues to keep the kernel of the I.B. Syllabi.

Our school year consists of thirty four weeks and is divided into two semesters. In each semester we draw two assessment marks in each subject. At the end of each semester we give an examination in the main subjects. At the end of the year we draw a global mark taking 50% from the assessment marks, 20% from the half-yearly examination and 30% from the annual examination.

N.B. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes

Third year students are given a choice, opting for either History of Europe or Chemistry.

Grading: 85-100 =A; 65-84 =B; 55-64 =C; 45-54 =D; 35–44 =E; 34 and less= F (fail)

Albanian Marks: 85-100 =10; 75-84 =9; 65-74 =8; 55-64 =7; 45-54 =6; 35- 44=5; 0-34 =4
